A brand new state-of-the-art purpose built complex to support the Typhoon Availability Service (TAS) Contract is now complete at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire.
The facility, known as the Typhoon Maintenance Facility (TMF), is an £18 Million MOD investment providing a 10,250 square metres hangar dedicated towards the service and maintenance of Typhoon aircraft.
The new facility will see RAF technicians working with BAE Systems colleagues to ensure the required number of aircraft are always available to the front line.

The overall investment in the Typhoon Availability Service (TAS) has created around 150 new jobs and has further secured up to 350 positions at Coningsby and at BAE Systems plants at Salmesbury and Warton. Previous similar operations have used more conventional storage facilities such as horizontal racking.
This project has proven the investment in the 4 localised Hänel Automated Vertical Storage Units has created an additional 75% more storage for aircraft components than would otherwise have been possible in the same space.
