Eriks UK
Eriks UK is a solutions solving company supplying essential equipment to many branches of industry worldwide. Sealing Technology is just one of their specialities. Eriks UK are the only national industrial services company who can offer a complete sealing solution on quality branded sealing products from the UK’s largest stockholding.
Selecting the ideal sealing system through the use of unbiased technological advice and using advanced logistics, ensures customer’s parameters and service requirements are fully satisfied. With growing order success, came a requirement for expansion of storage and logistics capacity.
The Seals Division was based in Halesowen, and in order to expand the business capacity, it was decided that a new purpose-built premises for the Seals Division was the optimum way forward. To facilitate this expansion, the Seals Division was relocated to a new building at Blowers Green Road in Dudley.
Whilst this move was in the planning stage, the Management team took the opportunity to investigate all means to reach new heights in customer service.
THE SOLUTION
The Eriks UK team investigated the automated vertical storage market, with a view to condense the storage space required, whilst providing faster picking of parts through the “goods to man” principal.
THE PREFERRED SOLUTION TO THEIR PICKING OPERATION
A thorough appraisal of the options available, resulted in the choice of Industore Limited as the provider of six High Speed Hänel Lean-Lifts, twelve metres high, using a significantly smaller footprint than conventional static racking would require. This huge space saving was very beneficial in offering Eriks UK an even greater flexibility in operation, with scope for future expansion capacity within the parameters of the new building.
Eriks UK took the opportunity to integrate their existing excellent Warehouse Management Software with the Lean-Lifts, which even further enhanced the already efficient picking and replenishment operation. The Eriks UK team worked closely with Industore in developing the new Pickolight system to best suit their picking operation.
This was the first such installation of this unique system in the UK, and as a result, other visitors to the Dudley site have ordered this system as the preferred solution to their picking operation
