Energy-efficient Hänel storage systems

Energy-efficient systems are the key to lowering energy consumption in your warehouse.

The effective energy consumption of automated material and file handling systems has a major impact on operating costs, amortization and on environmental protection. For this reason we have always placed great emphasis on continually optimizing the energy efficiency of our storage systems. This brings our customers many benefits, both from an economic and an ecological perspective!

The efficient design principle

Lean-Lift®: The Hänel Lean-Lift® stores all items in height-optimized positions, which ensures extremely compact storage in a minimum of space. This optimum use of storage area saves energy in itself, as there is no need for modular expansion of the store until the storage capacity has been fully utilized.

Rotomat®: The vertical carousel principle of the Hänel Rotomat® is energy-efficient in its very design. Using the Hänel load imbalance indicator ensures that the weight distribution inside the Rotomats® is balanced. As a result of this, only very little energy is required for a rotation or travel movement. Of course the unit always picks the shortest route automatically.

Design optimization

Careful selection of high-quality components and technologies brings more energy savings.

Lean-Lift®: A high rate of efficiency is ensured by the chain drive, for instance. Minimization of friction during storage movements, thanks to the modern slides on our storage containers for example, is another means of saving energy. Smooth-action plastic rollers also help to avoid friction losses.

Rotomat®: Our many years of experience and 50 years of optimization have made the Hänel Rotomat® an exceptionally efficient materials handling system. So smooth-running plastic rollers in the rotation mechanism, for example, reduce friction losses and help to save energy.

Energy-efficient drive systems

Motors controlled by a frequency converter use up to 50% less energy than drives powered directly from the mains and running at full load.

Intelligent software and control technology

Our intelligent MP control systems have excellent integrated energy-savings management:

  • Optimized travel paths inside the storage system with the MP 12 controller
  • Minimization of distances walked by users, thanks to route optimization where multiple units have MP 100 control

Lean-Lift®:

  • The Access Priority Factor is both energy efficiency and time efficiency in one. Frequently requested storage containers are stored close to the retrieval point. The energy required is minimized by short travel paths.
  • The optimization run can automatically optimize the placement of storage items according to packing density and/or access frequency. This saves time, space and energy!

Lean-Lift®: Energy recovery

The Hänel Lean-Lift® EcoDrive version converts the kinetic energy of the descending extractor into electrical energy and feeds it back into the electrical supply system. This enables up to 40% of the energy that is fed in to be recovered.
