A brand new state-of-the-art purpose built complex to support the Typhoon Availability Service (TAS) Contract is now complete at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire.
The facility, known as the Typhoon Maintenance Facility (TMF), is an £18 Million MOD investment providing a 10,250 square metres hangar dedicated towards the service and maintenance of Typhoon aircraft.
The new facility will see RAF technicians working with BAE Systems colleagues to ensure the required number of aircraft are always available to the front line.

The overall investment in the Typhoon Availability Service (TAS) has created around 150 new jobs and has further secured up to 350 positions at Coningsby and at BAE Systems plants at Salmesbury and Warton.
Previous similar operations have used more conventional storage facilities such as horizontal racking. This project has proven the investment in the 4 localised Hänel Automated Vertical Storage Units has created an additional 75% more storage for aircraft components than would otherwise have been possible in the same space.
As part of the contract Industore installed a further 4 Hänel Lean-Lifts within the adjacent Avionic Regional Centre. The units are utilised for the safe and secure storage of sensitive and complex test equipment. This section offers an essential testing facility for the Typhoon avionic systems.
“Industore provided the most comprehensive technical proposal to meet our stated requirement, whilst also demonstrating very good value for money. They also provided the greatest reassurance that the demanding project timescales could be met and they were.”
“I have been extremely impressed by the first-class service offered by all members of the Industore Team. Every request has been dealt with in an efficient and professional manner, with a very personal service, a rarity in today’s modern business.” Flt Lt Garry Chapman – Executive Officer Depth Support Wing
